**Accredited Person Program Marker EOI**

Would you like an opportunity to enhance the Accredited Person workforce and the experience of people seeking mental health care?

The Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) provides training for appropriately qualified and experienced mental health clinicians to gain initial recognition as an Accredited Person in NSW. The Mental Health Act (2007) provides for the appointment of Accredited Persons to improve mental health care in emergency situations. To achieve initial accreditation, trainees must attend a two-day workshop and successfully complete a written assessment task. The assessment task is designed to demonstrate that the trainee has attained the relevant knowledge and skills to carry out responsibilities as an Accredited Person under the Act.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified people who are interested in being included in a pool of assessment markers which HETI can call upon to mark assessments following the delivery of the NSW Health Accredited Persons Training Workshop.

**Primary Purpose**

Marking of Accredited Person assessments.
Assessments are in the form of a 2,250 written response to a series of question.

**Essential criteria**

More than 5 years Clinical Experience in Mental Health.

Familiarity with scheduling and completing Form 1s.

Willingness to become familiar with NSW Mental Health Act (2007) Guide Book and the Accredited Person's Handbook.

Sound understanding of the principle of least restrictive care.

Preparedness to participate in marking moderation and review processes.

**Indication of workload**

Workload is sporadic following state training workshop deliveries. Approximately 8 workshops are delivered each year with up to 30 participants.

Interested individuals will be contacted prior to the delivery of workshops and asked to nominate an agreed number of assessments they can mark within an agreed period, with an estimated 2 assessments marked per hour.

Being able to work to deadlines is essential.
- Greater than 5 years clinical experience in mental health.
- Please indicate what you understand by the principle of least restrictive care.
- Describe how the Mental Health Act (2007) defines a 'mentally ill' person and a "mentally disordered" person.

**Applications Close: 11:59 pm Wednesday 25 September 2024
