About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join us at the Illawarra Mercury as a news journalist based in Wollongong. The Illawarra Mercury delivers the latest news and sport coverage for the Illawarra region, plus commentary, analysis and important community information. As part of the news team, you will help drive digital engagement and audience growth through journalism that sets the local news agenda and attracts and retains digital subscribers. This is a hands-on reporting role that blends breaking news with data-driven storytelling and feature writing.
What You'll Bring
Strong news-gathering and writing / reporting skills
Proven skills in writing for online and social media audiences with tight deadlines
Proven educational qualifications in Communications / Journalism
Willingness to engage with the community as an agenda-setting journalist who delivers engaging coverage relevant to the local region
