Our Client
Our client is a global metals and mining corporation that explores, mines, and processes a variety of natural resources. This includes producing materials like iron ore, copper, and aluminum. The organization operates in 35 countries and has over 60,000 employees globally. This specific role is for a project at Bell Bay Aluminium, which is a smelter located in Tasmania, Australia. The smelter has an annual capacity of 189,000 metric tonnes and produces products such as ingot, T-bar, and rolling block aluminum.
Scope
The scope of work for this role involves developing and implementing an operational readiness package for a new 23kg Ingot Casting Line. This role is for a project at Bell Bay Aluminium, and the main goal of this project is to make sure the new line can reliably produce
25 tonnes of ingots per hour
. This includes a variety of plant equipment on the new line, such as:
Casting Wheel
Casting Conveyor
Skimming System
Cooling Conveyor & Tunnel
Layer Conveyor
Stacker
Bundle Conveyor & Bundle Turner
Bundle Manipulator (Pile Handler)
Double Bundle Conveyor
Cooling Water System
Labeling Robot
Utility inputs (Electricity, Gas, Water, Air) specific to the ingot line
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a number of tasks to ensure the new casting line is ready for operation. Key responsibilities include:
Asset Management Readiness
: Develop a complete asset management package and create Bills of Materials (BoMs) with assigned spare parts.
Asset Assessment & Maintenance
: Perform asset criticality assessments, develop maintenance tactics, and write and verify maintenance procedures.
Spare Parts & Inventory Management
: Prepare forms to add new parts to inventory and remove redundant ones. You'll also need to update BoMs and maintain accurate spare parts data.
SAP Master Data & Documentation
: Prepare SAP upload sheets for various data points, including functional location structures, asset criticality ratings, and maintenance plans.
Asset Management Planning & Reporting
: Create an Asset Management Plan for Group Level Critical Assets and provide reports and recommendations on statutory inspections, training needs, and areas of concern or risk.
Qualifications
Experience in asset management, reliability engineering, or maintenance planning in heavy industries like metals, smelting, or large-scale manufacturing.
Strong understanding of the
SAP PM module
and managing asset master data.
Hands-on experience with criticality assessments, RCM/FMEA, and developing maintenance strategies.
Ability to prepare and manage Bills of Materials (BoMs), catalogue spare parts, and optimize inventory.
Strong technical writing skills for creating procedures, task lists, and plans.
Desirable Qualifications
A degree or diploma in Engineering, Asset Management, or a related field.
Certification in RCM, FMEA, or other reliability methodologies.
Knowledge of Australian statutory inspection requirements.
