The team at DMA Caring Hand are looking for someone who can provide disability support work, as well as share a passion with their clients for animals. Someone with dog sitting experience is ideal, or someone who has knowledge training with dogs. You will also need to ensure your client is happy at all times, ensuring their needs are met too.

Disability Support Workers provide care, emotional support, physical assistance and supervision for people with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. The specifics of the role depend on the client; however, Disability Support Workers tend to focus on tasks that alleviate physical discomfort and promote social connectedness, independence, emotional wellbeing and general health.

As a Support Worker, you will be engaged in a range of tasks that include transport services, social support, domestic support, personal care and specialist support services for clients with complex needs. You will need to have a drivers license, a reliable vehicle and a flexible schedule, and you also need to be compassionate with a good understanding about NDIS and disability.

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Assisting with domestic tasks and chores such as shopping, menu planning, cooking, washing, toileting and cleaning
- Helping with outings, social activities and other daily routines
- Providing companionship and support to assist clients to develop their existing skills, abilities and confidence
- Walking dogs whenever the client needs you to do so
- Taking the client, or the dogs to appointments

- Commitment to providing a client focused service in a timely, consistent, co-ordinated and flexible manner
- Has knowledge with animal wellbeing and dog sitting/ dog care duties

**Skills/Knowledge**:

- Essential_
- Australian Working Rights
- Dog sitting experience/animal welfare experience
- Working with Children Check and Police Check or NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Program and COVID-19 training
- Demonstrated appropriate knowledge and understanding of evidence-informed practice approaches to behaviour support.
- Experience with mental health
- Preferred_
- A First Aid Certificate
- Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015) or a Certificate IV in Disability (CHC43115) or a Bachelor of Social Work
- A CPR Certificate
- Medication Training

**Job Types**: Casual, Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: $35.00 - $46.49 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Afternoon shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Public holidays
- Weekend availability

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay
- Penalty rates
