**The Department**

**_ Legal Support Services (inc. Freedom of Information and Police Liaison). _**

Alfred Health is a large, complex organisation with three campuses. Each campus covers a wide variety of medico-legal activities, including Freedom of Information and liaison with Victoria Police. A large part of these activities has been centralised and are overseen by the Legal Support Services Department based at the Alfred campus.

**The Role**

This role works within the Legal Support Services Department based at the Alfred Hospital. As a member of the Legal Support Services team you will be required to process requests for medical records and health information from internal departments including Medical Services, Health Information Services, the Clinical Governance Unit, Complaints Management Services and Alfred Health Legal Counsel. External organisations and stakeholders include solicitors, insurers, Transport Accident Commission, Work Safe, Centrelink, DHHS and patients.

**Qualification & Experience Required**

**_ Essential_**
- Understanding of the principles and operation of consent and privacy issues.
- Understanding of the principles and operation of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 and Health Services Act 1988.
- Understanding of the impact on the role of relevant legislation.

**_ Desirable_**
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience working in a Freedom of Information Office.
