Freedom of Information Advisor Role

The Department of Treasury and Finance seeks a skilled Freedom of Information (FOI) advisor to manage FOI requests under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

Job Description:

This ongoing position involves managing FOI requests, collaborating with lawyers, reporting FOI activities, providing strategic advice, developing stakeholder relationships, researching content for communication strategies, managing support officers, and preparing training sessions.

  • Develop and implement effective FOI request management processes.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to address complex FOI issues.
  • Monitor and report FOI activities across the department and its agencies.
  • Provide expert advice on FOI matters and develop strategic plans.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Research and create engaging content for communication strategies.
  • Lead and mentor FOI support officers.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive FOI training sessions.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will require a background and experience in public sector FOI environments, as well as expertise in providing advice and training. Your ability to work independently and as part of a team will also be essential.
