**About the Assignment**
The Project Controls Analyst (Cost) role is a development position for a high-calibre early career professional wishing to start or continue a career in Project Controls with a major Oil and Gas operator. The Project Controls Analyst role will focus initially on project Cost Control and Cost Estimating while also to gaining exposure to different disciplines within Project Controls. Reporting into the PSL - Delivery this role is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop their career in project controls supporting a diverse portfolio of projects and within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The Santos Project Services team supports a broad range of projects including Development projects, Decommissioning projects, Subsea infill/tie-back projects, as well as a selection of Carbon Capture & Sequestration (CCS) projects which will play a critical role in Santos' plan for an energy transition to a low-carbon future.
**Tasks include**:
**Cost Control**:
- Support the existing Cost Control resources (and project teams) to track, analyse, influence, and report on costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure the proper registration, validation and reporting of Value of Work Done (VOWD) and actual costs.
- Prepare month end activities (Accruals, variance commentary)
- Update and present cost forecasts.
- Coordinate and prepare overall reporting and variance analysis against approved AFE, annual budgets, and forecasts.
- Support the cost control change programme.
- Assist team to implement business process improvements.
- Support the Lead Cost Controller and contribute to the broader Offshore PS function.
**Cost Estimating**:
- Support the existing Project Estimating team with developing capital and decommissioning estimates.
- Support the team in benchmarking cost estimates.
**This assignment is initially offered for 12 months, engaged via Chandler Macleod.**
**Location for this assignment is Perth working full-time office hours**
**About You**
This position is designed as a development role within the Project Controls team. Project Controls / Project Services provides processes, tools, and techniques used to effectively plan, monitor, and control projects. The team supports the Project Managers and Project Engineers to help deliver projects effectively.
The main project Controls disciplines are: Planning / Scheduling, Cost Control, Risk Management, Information management & Systems, Cost Estimating / Benchmarking, Decision Governance (MOC, KD, DQ), Reporting & Analysis
**Technical competencies for this position are**:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, such as Project Management, Engineering, Business Admin or related discipline.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as the role will require engagement with a broad range of different stakeholders.
- The ability to process complex data sets and convert them into clear and actionable messages is required.
- A proven willingness and ability to learn new skills and put them into practice is essential. An ability to adapt quickly to a changing project environment is required.
- An analytical mind, the ability to see patterns and connect information, along with an ability to actively problem solve is required for this role.
- Proficiency in the full Microsoft suite is required.
