**Flourishing Oceans** aims to return our oceans to a flourishing state. A healthy ocean is one that can withstand a changing climate and increasing human pressure, is resilient, and free from pollution with a plentiful biomass of fished species. As human pressure increases and the health of our ocean continues to decline, dramatic steps are required to protect and conserve this resource.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goal (14) and its targets, our key objective is to return our ocean to a healthy thriving state. To facilitate this, we are committed to ending overfishing; ending the dumping of plastic, heat and CO2 in our ocean; supporting the sustainable use of ocean resources; conserving key habitats; and facilitating world class research.

Based in Perth,this is an exciting, impact-oriented role working on a globally significant issue - the conservation and sustainable use of our ocean. Working within the Flourishing Oceans Research and Innovation team will lead Flourishing Oceans work with the finance sector, aiming to scale levels of finance flowing towards sustainable blue economy activities and ocean conservation. Additionally, you will be leading the delivery of ongoing work, as well as the identification of new projects and collaborations that can contribute to the overall aim of the program.

The role kickstarts by leading a feasibility study to develop novel finance tools to accelerate investment in ocean conservation. The study will lever the expertise in Minderoo Strategic Impact Fund and partners to develop businesses case for identified opportunities and implement these where appropriate.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Deliver a feasibility study on novel ocean finance to progress Flourishing Oceans objectives
- Create and implement a business case for finance techniques recommended through the feasibility study
- Providing/obtaining advice in making financial decisions and investments
- Lead the development of operational plans to deliver project strategies
- Building strong relationships with key partners, and data providers to develop finance tools and leverage Minderoo's unique contribution to accelerate action.
- Engage with the Flourishing Ocean program leads to leveraging existing investments and furthering the initiative mountain tops
- Reviewing, monitoring, and managing budgets Reporting of project performance against planned objectives, and milestones with strong focus on delivering impact

**Qualifications**:
To be successful in this role you will have
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in sustainability, sustainable finance and/or sustainable investing & strategy
- An entrepreneurial innovator with enhanced creativity, research, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and risk-taking skills
- Preferable to have an ocean/marine science or nature/environmental science background
- Additional environmental NGO or corporate sustainability experience is an advantage
- Understanding of experience in one or more of the following:, impact investing, ESG integration, sustainable and green finance, climate risk, sustainability strategy
- Solid communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
- Excellent qualitative and quantitative (including financial modelling) analysis skills with ability to provide recommendations on sustainable finance options
- Ability to translate complex topics into clear, comprehensible communication to a broad audience
