The Role
Ensure the products, services or deliverables are produced to the required quality standards.
Ensure the time (schedule) and cost (budget) constraints of the project are achieved.
Provide leadership, direction and motivation to the project team.
Liaise with the Program Management Office, stakeholders, technical disciplines, and senior management as required.
Integrate the nine project management knowledge areas according to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK):
Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Human Resource, Communications, Risk & Procurement.
Responsibilities
Prepare, manage, review and update Project Plans.
Prepare and manage key knowledge area plans including risk and communications, in conjunction with other project staff.
Manage project variations, changes and maintain the change control process.
Manage project costs through cost estimating, budgeting, monitoring and contingency management.
Manage the risk management process, including the development of contingency plans, reviewing residual risks and escalating risks that cannot be managed at the project level.
Monitor overall progress, scope, project schedule, quality standards, use of resources, and initiate corrective action where necessary.
Establish the project administration systems, documents control and management of all records.
Coordinate / prepare progress reports & discussion with key stakeholders.
Coordinate handover and completion activities.
Identify and document lessons learnt during the project.
Use appropriate monitoring and reporting mechanisms with respect to all phases of project delivery of infrastructure programs.
Apply Transport and Main Roads Project Management Practices Guidelines and all other departmental project management materials.
Mandatory Experience
A minimum of 5 years (& Senior roles up to 15 years) of project management experience in the planning phase only (i.e. Business Case, Options Analysis, and so on) of Low value (up to $20M) to medium value (up to $50M) & low to medium risk, OnQ Type 2 and Type 3 road infrastructure projects; with any Australian State Government Road Authority, preferably the Department of Transport and Main Roads in Queensland.
Critical Note :Unfortunately, overseas candidates without this Mandatory Experience are unable to be considered due to client requirements.
Desirable Experience
Prior experience managing projects to the Department of Transport and Main Roads' - Queensland, policies, standards and specifications.
Minimum Qualifications – Mandatory
For full Degree qualified applicants only :
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) & RPEQ accreditation.
Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil) / or an equivalent qualification, which is accepted by the Institution of Engineers Australia as a Technologist Member (TMIEAust),
Associate Degree in Engineering (Civil) with relevant competencies.
Additional Qualifications – Desirable
A Project management qualification.
The roles are usually 40 hrs per week, which has some flexibility regarding daily hours & / or 'on-site' requirements.
The roles may be located anywhere in QLD & will always be discussed / negotiated prior to each assignment.
You must already be living in Australia, preferably Queensland & have the right to work in Australia, with well-developed interpersonal and consultative skills, a current drivers licence & own mobile phone.
