The role Reporting to the Director of Nursing, Practice Innovation, or the Director of Midwifery, Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, the ADON or ADOM will work with members of a joint Queensland Health and Queensland Nurses and Midwives' Union (QNMU) working group to develop a strategy to overcome structural barriers that inhibit nurses and midwives fulfilling their full scope of practice.
The ADON or ADOM or ADON&M will fulfil the responsibilities of the role in accordance with the nurse grade 10 generic level statement set out in schedule 2 of the Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health) Award - State 2015.Autonomy
- Autonomous decision making based on nursing, midwifery, policy, and regulatory frameworks.
- Direct comprehensive care or provision of direct care
- Accountable for NMBA and own standards, actions, and the outcomes of own nursing and/or midwifery practice.
- Contributes to strategic and operational policy development to achieve best practice outcomes.
- Collaborates in the development of and evaluation of the effectiveness of systems supporting continuous improvement in nursing and midwifery and healthcare team practice and health work environments.
- Integrates and evaluates models of care in the achievement of a cost-effective service.
- Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to realise targets/outcomes.
Support of Systems
- Contributes to the planning, coordination, and development of policies, procedures, protocols, and standards relating to the provision of safe and effective clinical care.
- Collaborates in and/or coordinate the evaluation of nursing and midwifery practice, systems, processes, and policies.
- Identify and implement opportunities for innovation.
- Monitor and address emerging trends with potential to influence nursing and midwifery.
The successful personYou will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following criteria within the context of the position's key responsibilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary nursing and/or midwifery practice and models of care.
- Advanced capability in leadership, professional standards, and policy.
- Experience in managing complex/statewide projects/continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proficient understanding of professional, regulatory, and industrial frameworks that impact on the nursing and midwifery professions.
