**Position Title**: Media Officer (PA02)
**Location**: Canberra
**Employment Type**: Full-Time, 12 Month Fixed Term (with the potential for the role to be ongoin)
**Security Clearance**: Baseline Clearance
**Citizenship**: Australian citizens only

**Role**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Handle challenging media enquirie
- Maintain strong relationships with key media contacts.
- Develop and implement media strategies to effectively communicate the department's messages.
- Write and distribute press releases, ensuring accuracy and alignment with departmental policies.
- Craft clear and compelling messages for the senior leadership team.
- Act as a spokesperson for the department, dealing with media inquiries and managing media relations.
- Monitor media coverage and provide timely advice to senior leadership on emerging issues.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and coherent messaging.

**Key Requirements**:

- At least two years of experience working in a media team at a Federal Government Department or Agency.
- Proven experience in dealing with the media on hot-button issues.
- Demonstrated ability to write high-quality press releases and craft messages for senior leadership.
- Strong understanding of the media landscape and issues management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Baseline security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
- Australian citizenship is mandatory.
