**Branch description**

The Communication and Media Branch delivers internal and corporate communication and strategic communication activities in support of the department and our minister, for the benefit of the Australian community. This includes managing the department's social media strategy and social media presence, media support services across the department and for our minister's office, production services including graphic design and branding, Web publishing for external-facing departmental websites, and the development of campaign and non-campaign materials.

**PAO2 MEDIA OFFICER**

**Pitch**
- Provide strategic media advice and services to the department and our ministers

**Duties**

The job:

- provide supervision and mentoring for team members
- provide strategic media advice to support the department's work
- create productive working relationships with key journalists and media outlets
- work closely with ministerial offices on media opportunities, events and issues
- prepare talking points, media releases, speeches and editorials
- work cooperatively as part of a small busy team to meet changing priorities

**Skills**
- a proven ability to deliver high quality media products
- demonstrated experience in building and sustaining productive relationships
- the ability to negotiate confidently with a range of stakeholders
- strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail
- excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and complete a range of projects and activities within set timeframes.
