A unique opportunity to work as a Technical Officer (Policy and Advocacy) in Geelong for a not-for profit organisation whose focus is oil spill response capability for Australia.
**About the Organisation**
Australian Marine Oil Spill Centre (AMOSC) is a not-for-profit subsidiary company of the Australian Institute of Petroleum (AIP) and has a membership base consisting of high profile upstream and downstream petroleum companies in Australia. AMOSC owns and operates industry's major oil spill response facilities including stockpiles of oil spill response equipment and sub-surface intervention equipment. With a permanent staff of 16 available 24/7 and able to draw on a core group of industry experts of 120, AMOSC has multiple facilities located in Geelong, Fremantle, Exmouth and Broome.
AMOSC provides training, advice, auditing, contingency planning and exercise management services to the industry, as well as representing the industry across a range of relevant forums and working groups. AMOSC is a key supporter of the National Plan for Maritime Environmental Emergencies as well as representing the industry across a range of relevant (Commonwealth and state level)forums and working groups.
**About the Role**
As a Technical officer (Policy and Advocacy) of AMOSC you will be supporting a vital organisation providing key specialist services and physical assets to the Petroleum Industry.
Your key tasks will be to research, develop and describe good practise industry policy positions within Australia's environmental protection regime across the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments. You will assist the CEO engage with policy makers to advocate for these positions.
There is also a key purpose during a response to assist with external communications and management of inter-government affairs as a Liaison Officer, working alongside the incident management teams.
