
Review Officer

Our organization is seeking a diligent professional to fill the role of Review Officer. This position plays a crucial part in ensuring that our processes are fair, transparent and adhere to legislative requirements.
The successful candidate will provide support to the Lead Integrity & Review Officer and collaborate with Customer Service regarding reviews of complaints received from the public and coordination of responses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting internal reviews of escalated complaints under our Council Complaints Policy and reviewing decisions, actions or services of City staff where necessary.
- Liaising with the Victorian Ombudsman in relation to information requests.
- Reviewing and determining appeals against infringements issued by our organization.
- Remaining up-to-date with policy considerations and guidance in the review of appeals against infringements issued by the Victorian Ombudsman's Office and relevant State Government departments.
- Ensuring all relevant legislative requirements and standards for the review of appeals against infringements are observed.
- Contributing to the ongoing review and development of internal guidance and procedures with respect to appeals against infringements and the review of complaints.
- Preparing to deputise for the Lead Integrity & Review Officer on occasion.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you should possess knowledge of legislation and policies relevant to the infringements framework and have the ability to exercise discretion fairly and soundly.
Requirements:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in law, business management or similar field. However, lesser formal qualifications accompanied by experience in fields relating to the review of appeals and/or decisions and investigating or handling complaints may also be considered.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to quickly grasp and understand relevant facts accurately.
- Proven capacity to manage confidential information discreetly and effectively in a complex work environment.
- Experience in reviewing complaints and conducting reviews of internal decisions.
- Ability to utilize technology and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent decision-making skills, particularly consistency and impartiality, with the ability to clearly articulate reasons for decisions.
- The political acumen, resilience and common sense required to perform duties effectively.
- Personal alignment with organizational principles of customer service, business planning and performance management, as well as a commitment to adhering to our code of conduct and values.
