Sydney, AU**The Project**:
John Holland CPB Contractors Ghella Joint Venture (JCG) has been awarded the contract to design and build the tunnels for the Sydney Metro West - Eastern Tunnelling Package (ETP), the final piece of the tunneling puzzle for Australia's biggest public transport project.
The ETP works include construction of 3.5-kilometre tunnels under Sydney Harbour between The Bays and Sydney CBD, and the excavation of Pyrmont and Hunter Street stations. Once completed, Sydney Metro West will double rail capacity between greater Paramatta and the Sydney CBD, with travel times of around 20 minutes between the two centers.
**The role**:
We are looking for an enthusiastic public affairs and events coordinator with a 'can do' attitude to be part of our high performing team, as we deliver an iconic infrastructure project that will leave an amazing legacy for the people of Sydney.
We will be bringing the community with us while we deliver this exciting project. This is a busy role in which you'll coordinate internal and external communications, regular photography and filming, site visitor access and arrange the logistics for media events and public open days. You will be working with a highly experienced team of professional communicators with a variety of skills and backgrounds, all ready to help you perform at your best.
- Prepare a wide variety of communications materials for internal and external audiences such as newsletters, media releases, presentations etc
- Organise events and public access to worksites, including heritage open days and site visits by stakeholders, media and community groups
- Plan, organise and supervise access and scheduling of photography, videography, and time-lapse photography of sites
- Prepare event plans, run sheets, forward program of events and event reporting
- Ensure visitors receive required inductions and personal protective equipment and follow strict safety protocols when on worksites
- Develop support materials for community forums and events
- Contribute to designing information displays, interactive media and publications
- Write and edit material to ensure consistency with writing and brand style guides
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key external and internal stakeholders to achieve community communications outcomes.
**What you'll need to succeed**:
- Communications specialist with at least three years professional experience in coordinating the delivery of events in high profile environments; ideally with a community focus
- Relevant recognised qualifications with a background working in communications and media, public relations or event management
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with first class organisation skills, high attention to detail, ability to achieve tight deadlines under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Strong demonstrated commitment to teamwork, experience working with multidisciplinary teams and ability to build strong internal and external relationships
- Appreciation of stakeholder and community needs in the delivery of a major infrastructure project.
