About us The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government.
We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses.
We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
This role is responsible for managing and maintaining Oracle's PaaS (Platform as Service) cloud-based services such as Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Integration (OIC), Autonomous Databases and Application Development platforms.
The role also covers the full spectrum of database administration responsibilities with a focus on management, performance, and availability of databases deployed on OCI.
Working with Oracle architects, developers and functional experts, you will use your technical, business analysis and interpersonal skills to resolve issues, ensure business continuity and optimise tenancy costs.
The successful candidate will be an adaptable problem solver, comfortable using new approaches to solve problems and deliver continuous improvement.
They will have a focus on organisational and customer outcomes and the ability to work collaboratively within a team and with stakeholders to develop and in-depth understanding of the business environment and its systems.
Key Accountabilities
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate the following:
* Manage all resources in the OCI tenancy including management of compartments, users, groups, policies and federated identity using IDCS.
Manage Security zones, assign and create identity and access policies for access control.
View and analyse audit logs for resource access.
* Create, delete, and manage compute instances, Virtual cloud Networks (VCNs), subnets and associated resources like gateways, firewalls, load balancers, block storage and object storage, configure alarms, metrics and logging rules, manage notifications and logging groups, access and manage billing and subscription details.
* Create and manage database systems, such as Autonomous Databases, configure high availability and disaster recovery setups (e.g., Data Guard), Manage database access control and roles.
Implement Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and other data protection mechanisms.
* Monitor and optimise database performance using tools like AWR (Automatic Workload Repository) and ADDM (Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor), apply patches and updates to database systems.
* Manage database scaling, storage, and capacity planning, export and import data using Oracle Data Pump, support database migration projects, and configure and monitor database backups.
* Incident and change management of OCI platforms and databases, raise Oracle services requests and resolve issues in collaboration with Oracle Support, and implement enhancements in collaboration and consultation with Oracle Partners and Architects.
* Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with data clients and a complex range of stakeholders to support and deliver on Oracle platform & data sharing priorities.
