**Selection Criteria**:
SC1 Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in inclusive education and supporting learners with additional needs, including the capacity to work directly with students who have complex behavioural and learning needs.
SC2 Demonstrated capacity to supervise the work of other support staff and to develop procedures and guidelines relating to the work area.
SC3 Demonstrated capacity to co-ordinate relevant professional development activities to enhance staff knowledge and understanding of students with specific learning or behavioural difficulties as well as lead a learning support team.
SC4 Demonstrated high level oral, written communication and interpersonal skills, including teamwork and collaboration.
SC5 Relevant qualifications and experience in areas of education support, inclusion and disability
**Role**:
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employees position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
**A person with ABA qualifications would be preferred but no required.**
**Responsibilities**:
The Disability Inclusion Support Coordinator will:
- work with the relevant Learning Leaders and Learning Support staff to establish systems for monitoring of student learning goals and classroom adjustments
- Adjustment and track classroom interventions and adjustments based on documented plans in place for students with Education Support Teachers
- Delivery of a professional support service/s in a school/s, including the development of policy and operational practices that will guide the work of others, including school staff
- Undertake advanced interventions in dealing with particularly complex cases that may require cross-profession or agency collaboration
- Delivers health and wellbeing education and promotion programs in collaboration with school community. Provides health and wellbeing advice to the school community
- Works actively to reduce negative health and wellbeing outcomes and risk-taking behaviours
- Promote a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing to students, staff and families
- Support school staff to expand their capacity to embed evidence-based mental health strategies, interventions and programs and build mental health literacy to identify and support primary school students with mental health concerns.
- Collaborate with school staff to inform, influence and provide input into teaching and learning relating to mental health and wellbeing. Provide support to schools staff and classroom teachers to build their capabilities to embed mental health into the classroom.
- Work with school leadership and wellbeing teams to embed whole school approaches to mental health into school planning and strategic processes. Coordinate clear referral pathways internally (within school) and externally (to community services) for students identified as requiring further assessment and intervention.
- Proactively work with and support regional staff, school wellbeing and leadership teams, teachers, parents/carers and other external agencies to coordinate targeted mental health support for primary school students.
- Contribute to the school's existing wellbeing team.
- have oversight and responsibility of individual education plans IEPs across the school and ensure the school meets obligations for students who are required to have an IEP
- ensure each student with disability and additional needs has a quality IEP
- promote a culture of high expectations and aspirations for the learning of students with disability or additional needs
- Work with the school leadership team to ensure our Disability Inclusion program is aligned to the School and Department policy and guidelines and maintain confidential and sensitive data on each student.
