As a Data Engineer - Infrastructure (DBA) at BCAA, you will play a critical role in modernizing and managing our databases and cloud environments across AWS and Azure.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering, you will provide technical expertise in database architecture, automation, and cloud technologies.
This position supports the design, implementation, and optimization of database solutions, ensuring robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure that meets the evolving needs of the organization.This is an exciting opportunity for a technical professional passionate about innovation and cloud technology to contribute to BCAA's infrastructure modernization efforts.Who you are:You are a technically skilled professional with a strong understanding of database architecture and cloud technologies.You have hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and automation solutions.You are proactive and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.You are a collaborative team player who communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.You are motivated to continuously enhance processes, adopt emerging technologies, and contribute to operational excellence.What you'll do:Implement and support redundant systems, disaster recovery policies, and data archiving to ensure the protection and integrity of data assets.Analyze and resolve technical support incidents in BCAA's AWS cloud infrastructure.Design, build, install, and configure database servers while ensuring optimal performance and security.Automate workloads in AWS, leveraging tools like PowerShell and scripting to streamline infrastructure services.Manage database operations, including strategic planning for production databases, data migrations, and system upgrades.Develop and implement IAM security solutions within AWS, ensuring secure access and identity management.Conduct research on database products and make recommendations to support procurement and development initiatives.Advocate for innovative designs and frameworks to enable value-driven automation and operational efficiency.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business needs and goals.Contribute to evolving CI/CD practices, ensuring effective integration and deployment of database solutions.What you bring:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.3+ years of experience in database administration, information technology, or database architecture, with 2+ years in an enterprise environment.Expertise in DBMS technologies, including SQL Server, Amazon RDS, Athena, and Oracle Databases.Proficiency with AWS cloud technologies such as EC2, EMR, S3, Lambda, SQS, SNS, and IAM.Solid experience in building ETL pipelines and maintaining database software.Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a deep understanding of database performance and application relationships.Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage technical and non-technical staff.Bonus Skills
Amazon Web Services certifications.Experience with networking, network security, and CI/CD practices.Internal Applicants: Please note that the internal posting closes on January 15, 2025, and the role is a Grade 14 position.The salary range for this position is $97,384.68 to $121,730.88 and is determined viajob-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity.
In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%.
