WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

**About the Team**

Our Logistics Vehicles Engineering team provides professional engineering support to our Acquisition and Through Life Support projects to ensure we continue to deliver outstanding customer outcomes. We conduct challenging and enjoyable work on our Logistic Vehicles and Modules products.

**About the Role**

The Product Lead (Vehicle Variant) is responsible for planning, leading, executing, and reviewing the entirety of engineering tasks to deliver the design, integration and to support verification, production and delivery of a Vehicle Variant Mission System. The Product Lead (Vehicle Variant) provides technical leadership to the project team to enable delivery of the allocated vehicle variant within technical, contractual, cost and schedule constraints.

The duties of the Product Lead (Vehicle Variant) include, but are not limited to:

- Technical leadership of the core team of Senior System Engineer and Physical Architecture Lead, as well as engineering discipline team leads. Set high level tasking, priorities, resolve conflicts between teams;
- Support the team of design, specialty and systems engineers assigned to the vehicle variant;
- Ensure that the vehicle variant Mission System is developed in compliance to the contractual requirements;
- Planning of vehicle engineering activities (via Workpackages) and subsequent project CMS;
- Manage the delivery of vehicle engineering activities in accordance with the project CMS, approved Project Plans and the RDA Project Execution Process (PEP);
- Conduct progress reporting and escalation of issues to VEM / CENG / PM;
- Manage and support the integration of / interface to major vehicle sub-systems;
- Lead the design and integration; support verification, production and delivery of a vehicle variant Mission System;
- Manage and support the preparation of Engineering Outcomes and Deliverables for Mandated System Reviews (SRR, SDR, PDR, DDR, TRR, FCA, PCA, SAA) to ensure successful entry, conduct and exit;
- Support the delivery of MSR material including presentations to the Customer and closure of related Action Items;
- Assist with the development, review and approval of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) items when required, and in accordance with the Project Delegation of Authority;
- Promote and maintain effective communication with the relevant program stakeholders, including internal RDA functions and capabilities, suppliers and the Commonwealth;
- Coordination of engineering activities and prioritisation between the Australian and German engineering teams;
- Engineering oversight of subcontractors and/or suppliers work scope to ensure successful delivery;
- Ensure technical and delivery related risks and dependencies are identified and support the active mitigation of them;
- Support to Working Groups (WGs) as required;
- Encourage and conduct mentoring and development of the Engineering team;
- Support the design and development of other vehicle variants;
- Coordinate common vehicle variant Mission System development topics with the other Product Leads; and
- Other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your manager from time to time.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

- Tertiary qualification in a relevant Engineering field (i.e. Mechanical/ Electrical) or a related discipline;
- 15+ years industry experience
- Experience leading a geographically dispersed and multi-disciplinary Engineering team;
- Have excellent verbal and written English communication skills;
- Demonstrated experience in development of complex military or automotive vehicles;
- Currently hold or be eligible to obtain a NV1 Australian Security Clearance;
- Hold or have the ability to achieve Chartered professional engineering status with Engineers Australia (or equivalent);
- Ability to travel interstate and/or internationally when required; and
- Experience in Australian Standard for Defence Contracting (ASDEFCON) processes.
