The Physical Security Advisor provides advice and guidance on a risk-based approach to appropriate security policy and measures used to achieve a safe and secure environment for APRA's people, information and assets and to meet the requirements of the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).

The Physical Security Advisor engages with APRA people on matters of physical, personnel and governance security and supports the Security Manager to manage physical security services and operations. They participate in projects with internal and external stakeholders.

**The team**

The Enterprise Security team reports to the Chief Information Officer and is part of the Technology and Data Division.

**Key responsibilities**
- Developing and implementing protective security strategy, policy and supporting protocols including a contemporary fit-for-purpose suite of policy and procedures, Agency Security Plan, Site Security Plans and protective security risk reviews and assessments and ensure documents are maintained and reviewed on a regular basis as per PSPF requirements
- Identifying and managing physical security risks
- Ensuring a safe and secure physical environment for entity personnel, contractors, clients and the public
- Ensuring a secure physical environment for official resources
- Managing physical security measures and access controls to protect facilities, information and physical assets, for example;
- certification of security zones
- installation and maintenance of equipment
- monitoring of service providers
- management of electronic access control systems including administration and physical control systems (such as Gallagher and other systems).
- Liaising with and managing security contractors in the delivery of security services, including
- Security Construction and Equipment Committee (SCEC) endorsed consultants
- security industry specialists
- security guards (guard-ng)
- safe hand and overnight couriers
- secure destruction
- locksmithing services
- Undertaking strategic planning for preparation of new or green-field sites
- Reporting on security maturity and operational effectiveness
- Providing travel briefings for APRA staff.

**About you**
- Application of the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
- Understanding of risk-based business-enabling approach to implementing appropriate security risk management measures and day-to-day security operations
- Government security advisor experience
- Capacity to communicate with influence to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Policy development and implementation experience and capability
- Threat management and response protocol experience and capability
- Understand scalable measures for heightened threat environments noting APRAs office locations and operating environment
- Security awareness training experience and capability
- Electronic security system management experience
- Minimum of a Cert IV in Government Security

**Eligibility**
- The successful applicant must have or be willing to undergo and maintain an Australian Government security clearance to the level of Negative Vetting 1 as a condition of employment.
