**Position Purpose**:
The Therapeutic Specialist will play a key role in providing clinical and therapeutic services to children, young people, families, and carers in our programs. This position will work closely with the local Case Workers and OOHC Coordinator to deliver therapeutic services, conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and guide staff and carers in providing effective care. You will also have the opportunity to offer Family Therapy and lead reflective practices, building a culture of continuous improvement in our team's therapeutic skills.

**Key Responsibilities**:
In this role, you will provide therapeutic leadership and implement trauma-informed interventions based on contemporary research and practice expertise, ensuring positive outcomes for vulnerable children, young people, and their families. You will conduct assessments, risk assessments, and develop therapeutic plans and Behaviour Support Plans for children and young people in the program.

You will provide training and group work for foster carers and staff, focusing on trauma and its impact, and help develop therapeutic skills within the team. Regular reflective practice sessions will be facilitated to enhance the team's therapeutic abilities and ensure quality care delivery.

Intensive support and guidance will be provided to foster carers, including participation in assessments and annual reviews. You will collaborate with the care team to support children and young people in maintaining positive connections within the community.

In addition, you will work closely with the Department of Communities and Justice and other service partners, providing secondary consultation on mental health needs. Regular reporting to the OOHC Coordinator Southern NSW will be part of the role, along with participation in quality assurance activities, service development, and the development of frameworks for trauma-informed service delivery.

**This is an ongoing Part-time opportunity 22.8 hours per week based in Batemans Bay within our Out of Home Care (OOHC) Program. The position reports Out of Home Care Coordinator - Southern NSW**

**Key Selection Criteria**:
To be successful in this role, you will need
- A solid understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline (essential) and current registration with the relevant peak body or association.
- Post Graduate training in relevant child, adolescent and family clinical practice, family therapy and systemic thinking (strongly preferred).
- Experience in completing assessments for children and young people and using the findings to complete a comprehensive therapeutic written report/care plan designed to inform staff and child interactions and the Care Team's planning
- Preferred trade background in carpentry, plastering, or building.
- A well-developed understanding of Attachment and Trauma Theories, their relationship to child abuse and neglect, together with an understanding of social, emotional and cognitive disabilities and an ability to assist others to understand their associated implications.**For a full position listing, please click APPLY.
