Furniture Design Assistant

Koala is looking to boost our fast paced furniture design team. We are excited to be recruiting a passionate design assistant to support our Upholstery and Casegood furniture categories. Fueled by curiosity, always on top of industry trends, this role will suit someone who is eager to learn and grow within the company and someone who can support the team to elevate our product ranges going out to market.

**Requirements**:

- General administration to support the Design Team to create better products for Koala's customers
- Create Sketches and Tech packs as required
- Create supplier communication documentation to support the designer and design engineer
- Assist Senior Designer and Design Manager in creating early stage mockups and prototypes
- Assist with CMF (colours, materials and finishes) supplier communication and coordination
- Support Design Manager &, Design Director, (as well as broader team when needed) in creation and maintenance of design library, prototype workshop and project spaces
- Experience working on projects and in delivering to launches and retail timelines
- Help create presentations for internal communication
- Work with multiple stakeholders and be a team player to deliver better products for our customers

**Ideal background**
- Industrial or Furniture Design degree/course and 1-2+ years of experience working in design for branded retail products a bonus
- Proficient with Solidworks and Keyshot
- Experience in using power tools and machinery for prototyping
- You are passionate about design and inspired to stay up to date with industry trends
- Meticulous attention to detail and deadline-focused, especially when under pressure
- Comfortable with a dynamic and flexible, ever changing design environment
- Used to working in teams, across hubs and collaborating to achieve outcomes
