About the role:
We have a newly created role for an Industry Relations and Policy Manager in our corporate affairs team Reporting to our Head of Government and Industry this is a fantastic key leadership opportunity for the next step in your career. This role can be based in our national support office in Melbourne or also out of Canberra - please note we don't have an office in Canberra so there would be a requirement for regular travel to Melbourne as part of this role.

Leading a small team, this role will build and maintain strong relationships with key industry bodies, associations and stakeholders relevant to our operations. There will be a focus on monitoring and influencing policy developments and advocating Bunnings' interests. This is a role which will help to create a favourable external environment that supports Bunnings' strategic objectives and fosters positive industry relationships.

Day to day some of the activities you will be focused on developing and building strong relationships with key industry associations and government officials. You will be responsible for monitoring and analysing policy developments and assess their potential impact on our business as well as representing Bunnings at any industry events, conferences and meetings. You will prepare policy submissions, position papers and briefing materials and look to provide timely policy advice internally to our stakeholders.

You'll need:

- Ideally you are degree qualified in public policy, political science, law etc and have recent practical experience working within government relations, public affairs
- Any experience in a similar role within the retail industry would be advantageous
- You have led, coached and developed teams in your career - you are strategic but also still happy to be hands on when needed with your team
- You bring with you experience developing and executing successful industry relations strategies and a strong understanding of the Australia political and regulatory landscape
- You have proven ability to analyse policy and legislation and to assess its impact on business operations
