**About the Role**:
As the new Public Affairs Lead at **Takeda Pharmaceuticals**, you will spearhead initiatives to foster a favorable healthcare environment, ensuring improved patient access to our medicines in Australia and New Zealand. This role will be based in Sydney, will report to the Head of Corporate Affairs and is perfect for someone passionate about public health, policy advocacy, and making a significant impact on patient outcomes.
**What You Will Do**:
- ** Planning**: Develop and implement Takeda's Public Affairs plan to improve patient access, address barriers to innovation and develop access strategies for products
- ** Policy**: Scan policy and environmental trends, compile evidence for policy changes, prepare policy submissions, monitor and mitigate healthcare risks, and advocate for policy improvements in diagnostics, precision medicine, and patient care.
- ** Patient Voice**: Advocate for patient needs in key policy discussions, aiming to improve access to medicines.
- ** Stakeholder Relations**: Build and nurture strong relationships with Government, policymakers, patient advocacy groups, and industry stakeholders.
- ** Campaign Development**: Monitor policy landscapes, craft policy briefs, and lead campaigns to support Takeda's advocacy and policy positions.
- ** Project Management**: Oversee projects with external agencies, ensuring timely and budget-compliant execution.
- ** Reputation Management**: Support the management of the company's reputation, particularly in relation to high-profile issues.
**What We're Seeking in You**:
- ** Expertise**: In-depth knowledge of Australian and New Zealand healthcare policies, legislative, and regulatory frameworks.
- ** Analytical Skills**: Ability to analyse policy changes and craft strategic responses.
- ** Communication**: Exceptional skills in articulating complex policy issues and advocating to diverse audiences.
- ** Stakeholder Engagement**: Proven experience in engaging with government officials, regulatory bodies, patient advocacy groups, and industry associations.
- ** Versatility**: Ability to navigate complex regulatory and political environments and take on diverse tasks.
- ** Project Management Experience**: Track record of managing public affairs projects effectively.
**Qualifications**:
- ** Experience**: 8+ years in public affairs or policy advocacy, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
- ** Education**: Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public or Health Administration, Law, Communications or a related field.
- ** Skills**: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
