Supervisor - Parks Services

**IPA** has an exciting opportunity for a **Supervisor Parks Services** to work with a local Government department in Bayswater.

**Must have's**:

- Cert 3 or higher in Horticulture
- Current C Class drivers licence
- WA White Card
- National Police Check (within 3 months or willing to obtain one)
- Previous Supervisory experience
- Previous Parks/Horticulture experience
- Computer savvy

**Desired have's**:

- Cert 4 Frontline Management or equivalent
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Traffic Management Certificate

**Duties will include but not limited to**:

- Supervise all maintenance activities relating to general turf and horticultural management within recreational parks and civic gardens.
- Monitor the health and condition of gardens and turf areas, assess work requirements and treatment protocols to ensure presentation levels are of a high standard.
- Ensure parks maintenance is well executed according to desired service levels.
- Formulate efficient maintenance programs and ensure effective implementation by team and contractors.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of the City's annual garden rejuvenation and eco-zoning programs, and minor capital projects.
- Promote tree preservation, biodiversity principles, and sustainability of green assets by ensuring the natural environment is considered and protected when undertaking operational activities.
- Monitor equipment usage and performance, and providing input to the selection of new equipment.
- Provide direct supervision, guidance, support and performance management of staff and contractors.
- Promote a continuous improvement business model to encourage a creative and productive work environment, including the effective growth and development of staff.
- Provide advice and training to staff on planting and maintenance of civic gardens and turf areas specifically around recommended site preparation, irrigation requirements, planting procedures, turf cultural practices and nutrient management.
- Effective financial monitoring of operational budgets, programs and projects.
- Assist with the preparation and administration of annual budgets and tender specifications, and related contracts.
- Respond to customer enquiries and/or liaison with residents with information that is factual, timely and
- delivered in a professional manner.
- Administrative duties including facilitation of tool box meetings, accurate processing of employee related issues, records management and procurement of goods and services.
- Active participation in development and learning pathways including attendance to industry, OSH and corporate training.
- Proactively identify and address risks by adopting safe working practices, undertaking preventative maintenance or reporting risks to the appropriate person.
- Ensure the City's Safety Framework is understood and complied with by all staff and contractors including but not limited to the Induction process; Personal Protective Equipment; OSH Management
- Practices; Job Safety Analyses; Risk Assessments; Safety Inspections; Prestart Checks;
- Incident/Accident Reporting; Safe Work Methods; Take 5 and Safe Act Observations.
- Lead role facilitating employees through the Injury Management process.
- Other duties as reasonably required to assist the City's business as usual operations.

**Salary**: $40.00 - $42.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week

- Day shift
- Morning shift
