ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities, helping thousands of Australians every year find hope in the midst of all kinds of personal hardship. The Salvation Army offers the opportunity to use your skills and expertise to make a real difference in the lives of people who need help most.
The highly successful Just Brass music program, run each week for free by The Salvation Army in partnership with local schools, is designed for primary school aged students, particularly targeting those with few opportunities to learn music. Not only do children have access to instruments and learn about music, they will build their self-esteem and confidence, and often show marked improvement academically and well-being - such is the power of music in their lives.
Once the students are collected by bus each week, the Just Brass Tutor, under the direction of the Just Brass Program Leader, will provide brass instrument tuition during rehearsal and coach students to participate in a Just Brass band. The ultimate aim is to see students further their musical skills and knowledge and grow in themselves as resilient young people. Click here for more information about Just Brass.
