Position**:Disability Support Worker**

Location**:Canberra**

Employment Type**:Casual**

Competitive rates**:$30 - $40 plus super (based on qualifications and experience).**

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care and hygiene, household tasks, social interactions, meal preparation, medication management, and mobility assistance.
- Drive clients with a company vehicle to places, including but not limited to grocery shopping, work, and leisure activities.
- Provide personalised support to individuals with disabilities in accordance with their care plans and individual needs.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families, and other members of the care team.
- Implement personalised care plans, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment, promoting dignity, respect, and equality for all individuals.

**Requirements**:

- While no prior experience is necessary, we encourage those with a minimum of 12 months of experience in disability support or personal care, preferably in a residential or community setting, to apply.
- Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
- Working with Vulnerable People check card (mandatory as ACT requirement)
- Manual handling for disability support workers' certificate (or be prepared to obtain)
- Valid Australian driver's license (mandatory)
- Valid work rights in Australia (mandatory)
- NDIS Workers Screening Check (mandatory)
- Current National Police Check within 12 months validity (or be prepared to obtain)
- Current First Aid & CPR certification (or be prepared to obtain)
- COVID-19 Vaccinations (ACT government requirements for COVID vaccination to be able to work in the disability support sector)
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for assisting individuals with disabilities.

Desirable criteria for the job role:

- Demonstrated experience/knowledge in working with people with disability.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve.
