Join our statewide Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) team in this temporary Guidance Officer role.

This position is school-based, with the location negotiable.

Auslan skills and experience conducting assessments with Auslan users are desirable.

This temporary full-time position is available until 12 December 2025, with the possibility of extension for up to 12 months.

About Us

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) is a statewide, borderless service. This position will be based in a school but the location is negotiable. It is desirable for the person in this role to have Auslan skills and experience conducting assessments with Auslan users.

About The Role

As part of the statewide Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) team, you will:

Provide leadership and specialist support in response to student protection issues, critical incidents and emergencies.
Advocate for and support DHH students through counselling, psychoeducational assessment, individual student support, and tailored recommendations to students, teachers and parents on educational, behavioural, career development, mental health and family matters.
Work within a multidisciplinary team to facilitate and support effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school staff and external support agencies, delivering comprehensive support, case management and referral services that optimise student access, engagement and achievement in educational programs.
