**About the role**

Reporting to our Manager Investment and Value Management, you will support financial modelling, research and analysis tasks as well as ad hoc reporting. The role includes engaging different parts of the business to identify and quantify value drivers, build models and assist in reviewing as well as writing internal papers and presentations. Modelling tasks will require leveraging existing knowledge of main functions and techniques and executing to the white-boarded specifications and requirements. Reporting tasks will require understanding the data needs, finding appropriate data sources and structuring the data accordingly. The Investment Analyst will also help drive efforts to improve the systems and processes as well as implement new technologies.

This is a unique opportunity to produce analytical work to support investment projects for an executive team and shareholders with a strong appetite for considering new development opportunities. The role will provide exposure to all parts of the Pacific National business from operations to finance and commercial and allows the Investment Analyst to gain true insight into how the broader business operates, how information flows, how decisions are made and to see the output of their analysis as successful investments come to fruition.

Key responsibilities include:

- Support valuation and investment analysis:

- Provide ad-hoc research and analysis support for Valuation and long-term forecasting
- Work with other members of the Investment and Value Management team and wider business to support modelling, business case development and analysis as part of multi-team analytical projects
- Assist in the annual budget process by owning a segment of the budget and liaising with other departments to ensure there is clarity on the budget process requirements, managing the collation of their inputs, improving forecasting quality and integration with other analytical streams
- Assist with the introduction of new technologies and conversion of existing processes to new platforms

**About you**

You will have some experience evaluating investment opportunities and have a keen interest in learning new technologies and embracing Digital Finance. Strong analysis, financial modelling and numeracy skills are essential to succeed in this role, as is the commitment to invest further in developing this competency.
- Prior exposure in a small investment fund or consulting firm will be highly regarded, or prior experience in a similar role for a corporate business
- Strong stakeholder management skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Robust knowledge of main Excel functions used in financial analysis, ability and desire to develop from a solid base
- The ability to manage large datasets and complex financial models
- Enthusiasm for improving reporting, learning new technologies and embracing Digital Finance
- Commercially aware with a high level of attention to detail, initiative and pro-activity
- Proactive in developing relationships across all areas and levels with the business
- Comfortable working under pressure with a strong ability to respond to ad hoc requests on short notice, manage priorities and work to tight deadlines
