Gameplay Programmer Position
We are seeking a skilled Gameplay Programmer to join our team in Sydney. This is a full-time, permanent position at our state-of-the-art game development studio.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement core gameplay systems and control interfaces using C++ and game script.
Collaborate with animators, designers, and artists to create engaging game experiences.
Work closely with other Rockstar studios to achieve project goals.
Follow an iterative process to refine and polish features.
Develop tools to enhance iteration times and increase team productivity.
Produce stable, reliable, and well-documented code.
Requirements:
5+ years of low-level software development experience, including at least 2 years in the video games industry.
Strong understanding of top-down design, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and game design principles.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Highly organized with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Passionate about gameplay, system design, and methodologies that support a team-driven approach.
Preferred Skills:
Prior experience working in large codebases with proprietary engines.
At least one shipped title; preferably on Xbox or PlayStation consoles.
Knowledge of mobile devices and development processes.
In-depth knowledge of multithreaded synchronisation primitives.
Experience of game design/scripting in a professional environment.
Online portfolio of previous work (code samples strongly advised).
Exposure to scripting languages such as C#, Python, or Lua.
