Job Title: Gameplay Programmer Position

We are seeking a skilled Gameplay Programmer to join our team in Sydney. This is a full-time, permanent position at our game development studio.

  • Design and implement core gameplay systems and control interfaces using C++ and game script.
  • Collaborate with animators, designers, and artists to create engaging game experiences.
  • Work closely with other studios to achieve project goals.
  • FOLLOW an iterative process to refine and polish features.
  • Develop tools to enhance iteration times and increase team productivity.
  • Produce stable, reliable, and well-documented code.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of low-level software development experience, including at least 2 years in the video games industry.
  • Strong understanding of top-down design, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and game design principles.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Passionate about gameplay, system design, and methodologies that support a team-driven approach.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience working in large codebases with proprietary engines.
  • At least one shipped title; preferably on consoles.
  • Knowledge of mobile devices and development processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of multithreaded synchronisation primitives.
  • Experience of game design/scripting in a professional environment.
  • Online portfolio of previous work (code samples strongly advised).
  • Exposure to scripting languages such as C#, Python, or Lua.
