Where you\'ll be working:Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) service area (Auburn, Blacktown, The Hills Shire, Holroyd, Parramatta LGAs) focused on primary and secondary health care and initiatives across the Greater Western Sydney region.
What You'll Be Doing
The Needle and Syringe Program aims to maintain and enhance the health of people who inject drugs by providing care that addresses their needs.
This includes the provision of equipment, brief interventions, education, skills development, welfare and referral as requested by the client, information access, advocacy, and other interventions to enhance physical and psychological wellbeing.
Work within the WSLHD Needle and Syringe Program Team to deliver a range of health care services for prevention and care of blood-borne viruses among injecting drug users.
This position will participate in service delivery across the WSLHD NSP sites.
Essential Requirements
Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Community Services or equivalent
Selection Criteria
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health or related field
An understanding of Harm Minimisation
Knowledge of blood borne viruses such as HIV, HCV and HBV
Non-judgemental and empathic approach to people who inject drugs
An understanding of Health Promotion and Community Development
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Experience working with marginalised groups within a Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) or similar service
Current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to travel to different WSLHD sites or external facilities as required
