What We're Looking For: As a Commis Chef at Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders, you'll work alongside a talented team to ensure each dish meets our high standards of creativity, quality, and presentation.
You'll play an essential role in the daily operations of the kitchen, contributing to menu development, food production, and maintaining the smooth running of our kitchen.
Your Key Responsibilities: Menu Development: Assist the kitchen team in creating new dishes, contributing fresh ideas, and helping bring our seasonal menu to life.Food Production & Quality: Prepare and cook food to the highest standards, ensuring consistency and adherence to recipes.Stock & Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, ensure food quality and quantity, and help control waste and portion sizes.Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to maintain a productive and positive kitchen environment.
Assist in training and supporting junior team members.Hygiene & Food Safety: Adhere to the highest hygiene standards, ensuring the kitchen and food storage areas are maintained to meet food safety regulations.Guest Experience: Be flexible and responsive to guest requests, ensuring exceptional service and quality in every meal prepared.

You can handle the heat in a fast-paced kitchen
Experience: Previous experience as a cook or a trade certificate in Commercial Cookery.
You know your way around a kitchen and are eager to learn more.Certifications: A valid Food Safety Certificate and legal right to work in Australia.Physical Stamina: You're ready to handle the physical demands of the role - standing, lifting, and working with hot equipment are all part of the job
