Electrical Design Engineer (Primary Systems)
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design of HV substations and distribution networks. You will be responsible for developing detailed designs that meet relevant standards, such as IEC 62271 and AS 60076.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing detailed designs of HV substations and distribution networks
Conducting professional engineering works, including planning and execution
Creating single-line diagrams and protection single-line diagrams for HV systems
Developing technical specifications for HV switchgear, distribution transformers, and other equipment
Designing substation layouts, considering clearances and Australian Standards
Designing HV cables, including sizing and detailing
Ensuring insulation coordination and lightning protection in HV systems
Performing fault calculations, power quality assessments, and harmonic analysis
Meeting with customers to resolve technical issues
Assisting with site installation and commissioning
Collaborating with other disciplines, such as earthing and bonding, EMI, civil, and structural
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
University degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 8 years of experience in HV substation and HV distribution network design
Knowledge of relevant Australian and International standards and codes
Strong understanding of HV primary design and interface requirements
Site experience and ability to work on projects under construction and commissioning
Proficiency in software packages, such as CYMCAP and DIgSILENT Power Factory
Chartered status, including RPEQ, NER, and CPEng is desirable
