**What you will be doing**:
We are seeking Fire Tower Operators to join our team and assist with protecting the native state forests on the beautiful South Coast of NSW.
**You will undertake a variety of activities such as**:

- Detection of fire location.
- Determining fire behaviour.
- Reporting fire information to the duty officer and fire response staff.
- Four-wheel driving to access tower locations.
- Using radios and other communication equipment.

The opportunity available is seasonal in nature, over the summer fire season, and workloads will vary depending on weather conditions. You will be part of the organisation's fire readiness strategy during the bushfire danger period.
**We would love you to have**:

- Navigation and map reading skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate on the radio.
- Hold and maintain a valid driver's licence.
- Own a serviceable four-wheel drive vehicle with comprehensive insurance to be able to reach fire tower locations. (vehicle usage allowance is applicable)
- Local knowledge or transferable skills in forestry and farming is highly desirable.
- A great attitude and willingness to adhere to our core Values and Behaviours.

Experience or competency in the following would be highly regarded but are not essential:

- Good observation skills, geographical knowledge, mapping and navigation skills would be highly advantageous.
- Experience in bushfire fighting and fire behaviour knowledge.
- Current first aid certificate.
