We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Commercial Motor Mechanic to join our team in Maffra, Australia.
In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy commercial vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy commercial vehicles, including trucks, buses, and construction equipment
Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using computerized diagnostic equipment and analytical skills
Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components
Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to minimize vehicle downtime and extend equipment life
Interpret technical manuals and schematics to accurately troubleshoot and repair vehicle systems
Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all work performed
Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with customers regarding vehicle status and repair needs
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Stay updated on the latest technologies and repair techniques in the heavy commercial vehicle industry
Skills and Experience
Proficient knowledge of the mechanical operation and maintenance of a range of vehicles, plant and equipment inclusive of Garbage Compactors and road Sweeping trucks
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in heavy commercial vehicle repair and maintenance
Ability to analyse, diagnose and determine solutions to problems relating to plant and equipment requiring repair or maintenance
Ability to utilise and operate computer-based maintenance software to manage maintenance activities on day-to-day basis
Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices
Thorough understanding of workplace health and safety regulations
Detail-oriented approach to work with a focus on accuracy and quality
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Strong communication skills to interact with team members and customers
Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies in the field
Strong mechanical skills and in-depth knowledge of heavy commercial vehicle systems
Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic equipment and interpreting results
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose complex issues efficiently
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
Expertise in using various hand and power tools required for vehicle repairs
Qualifications
Post trade qualifications (Heavy Commercial Motor Mechanic), garbage compactor technology or a related discipline/s, Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification
Heavy rigid endorsement
Valid driver\'s license; heavy vehicle driver\'s license preferred
