Heavy Commercial Motor Mechanic Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Commercial Motor Mechanic to perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy commercial vehicles, including trucks, buses, and construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to minimize vehicle downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using computerized diagnostic equipment and analytical skills.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components.
  • Carry out technical troubleshooting and repair work to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all work performed.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with customers regarding vehicle status and repair needs.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficient knowledge of the mechanical operation and maintenance of a range of vehicles, plant and equipment.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in heavy commercial vehicle repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to analyze, diagnose, and determine solutions to problems relating to plant and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Thorough understanding of workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Detail-oriented approach to work with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with team members and customers.
