Allygroup is seeking an experienced legislation lawyer to support a federal government agency within its Automation and Artificial Intelligence space.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of law and innovation, contributing to a diverse and high-impact legislative portfolio across the agency.
The role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of the end-to-end legislative process and a keen interest in emerging technologies.
This role is offered as an initial six-month contract, with the possibility of extension.
It is open to candidates based in Canberra or Brisbane, though other locations may be considered.
A Baseline security clearance (or higher) is required.
While full-time hours are preferred, the position offers flexible working arrangements, including part-time options for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities Drafting Explanatory Statements (ES) and Explanatory Memoranda (EM).
Instructing the Office of Parliamentary Counsel (OPC) on legislative matters.
Contributing to a diverse portfolio of legislative work across the agency.
Reviewing and advising on secrecy provisions within legislation.
Demonstrated experience in legislative drafting or legal advisory roles related to legislation.
Familiarity with privacy law is beneficial, though not essential.
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice.
