About the engagement
Green Light is a growing consulting organisation known for its work in Telecommunications and System Integration Services organisations.
We have a requirement with our client partner for a DB2 Database Administrator to join their team on a 12-Month contract.
Responsibilities
Maintain continuous availability and optimal performance of DB2 databases supporting critical batch operations.
Conduct regular administrative tasks including backups, restores, user access management, patching, and version upgrades.
Proactively monitor system health and resource usage to identify and address performance issues.
Collaborate with development and support teams to troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents affecting batch workflows.
Contribute to the design and deployment of database structures such as tables, indexes, and stored procedures for new or updated applications.
Implement robust security protocols to safeguard sensitive data and ensure adherence to compliance standards.
Requirements
Must hold full Australian citizenship due to the nature of government-related work involved in this role.
Demonstrated experience managing DB2 databases in a high-availability, enterprise-scale environment.
Solid understanding of batch processing systems and their integration with database platforms.
Strong skills in performance tuning, capacity planning, and system optimisation.
Experience with backup and recovery strategies, user access controls, and patch management.
Knowledge of data security standards and compliance requirements.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
Experience on Datacom mainframe, IDMS and/or ADABAS is highly regarded but not essential.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
