Reporting to APRA's Deputy Chair and with a direct reporting line to the Chair of APRA's Audit and Risk Committee (ARC), the Chief Internal Auditor is responsible for leading APRA's Internal Audit function to positively contribute to APRA's control environment and the delivery of APRA's remit.

The Chief Internal Auditor is accountable for the development and implementation of the function's strategic direction to not only provide timely assurance to the ARC and the Executive Board, but to also make significant contributions to uplift and sustain internal risk management practices, and improvements to key governance and control mechanisms.

**In this role you will**
- Identify and lead activities that continuously improve APRA's control environment through the development and execution of up-to-date internal audit strategies, advisory engagements, and ensuring dynamic audit activities evolve to maintain alignment with the changing risk landscape.
- Lead the provision of consulting services to support APRA's Frontline supervisors in the execution of their core remit. Identify and implement practices that provide up to date knowledge of the Internal Audit profession.
- Develop a strong sense of priorities and demands across the organisation and develop innovative strategies to support the Executive team on continuous business improvement opportunities.
- Proactively develop constructive and meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders to embed practical risk intelligence and maintain knowledge of contemporary practices.
- Develop and empower a high performing team, with an emphasis on collaboration to ensure sustainable outcomes, and the provision of timely advice and support be given to the organisation.
- Model inclusive leadership behaviours and instil an open culture within the team, where divergent views are shared and respected.
