**About the Role**:
BHP relies upon functional, reliable, and supportable industrial communications networks for its vital business functions. This role is focused on supplying design, implementation, optimisation, and problem-solving services for our industrial communications networks to enable BHP's business objectives.
The Principal Industrial Network Reliability will be responsible for identifying and resolving network improvements and optimisation opportunities across BHP Coal Operational sites and network technologies, problem investigation and resolution and assisting with minor works projects for site users.
Reporting to the Superintendent Industrial Communications Network and sitting within Mining Systems East Operations, this role allows you to work with other technology teams and mine site stakeholders to identify opportunities for network optimisation and to take initiative to implement solutions, ensuring adherence to BHP's safety policies and in accordance with all architectural and engineering standards.
Core accountabilities for the role include:
- Ensure proper design, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and optimisation of Industrial Communication Network portfolio devices including Wireless data networks, 802.11x APs, WLCs, Digital Radio, LTE and network security.
- Investigate the cause and design a resolution for requests for out of Service Management processes (e.g., problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.)
- Identify, investigate, and resolve system improvement and optimisation opportunities within the operational network
- Drive for continuous improvement by optimising and automating processes
- Engage with Technology Operations, Industrial Network Engineering, and other technical teams to discuss requirements, design, and implementation of network solutions
- Engage with Site Resources and Stakeholders to ensure the customers needs are being met
- Provide expert system design input and implementation services in accordance with architectural and engineering standards, templates, and policies
- Provide expert input to assist with resolving critical incidents and problems within the Industrial Network
**About You**:
- Experience in designing and managing large, complex and secure IT networks in large organisations (preferably mining and/or oil & gas or telecommunication)
- Troubleshooting, logging, and monitoring tools including DNA-Centre, NetACT, SolarWinds and Splunk is beneficial
- Tertiary qualification in Technology, Engineering or similar discipline specialising in telecommunication networks
- Experience with network security technologies is beneficial
