
Principal Technical Specialist- Networks

**The role**: Reporting to the Technical Delivery Manager, the Principal Technical Specialist will play a lead role for several projects within the Cyber Security Program. This role will provide comprehensive experience assisting the implementation and replacement of Firewalls and proxy services at Queensland Health. This role will also provide strategic direction and technical management support to the technical team for a successful delivery of the project's technical outcomes.
**Duties will include**:
- Provide high level Core Networks Technology support and consulting services to Cyber Security customers.
- Provide expert advice and analysis to key stakeholders on the Core Networks Technology aspects of Enterprise Firewall and Proxy solutions and determine the current maturity levels and future requirements of the organisation.
- Lead and implement following Networks functions:
- Networks Engineering - F5s Load Balancers, Cisco Routers and Switches
- Networks Operations - F5s Load Balancers, Cisco Routers and Switches
- Networks Reference Architecture
- Lead implementation of new routers, switches, and load balancers.
- Work closely with project, BAU and Cyber Security teams to do designs, write implementation plans, install, configure and test routers, switches and firewall interfaces and transition new devices capability into operations.
- Ensure compliance and optimal performance of enterprise service levels.
- Optimise costs of service delivery by designing and developing improvements.
- Provide high level research and advice regarding emerging technologies.
- Lead and manage, coach and mentor a highly skilled technical team.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in and/or lead a highly skilled technical team providing high-level technical direction, standardisation, and support of enterprise infrastructure in a large customer focused organisation. (SFIA Code: ARCH5) (NHS: Leading Change through People)
- Proven high level understanding and working knowledge of relevant technical domains (SFIA Code: TECH 5)
- Enterprise Network, both Wide and Local Area Network
- GRE and IPSEC Tunnelling, Load Balancing
- External Access solutions
- Wireless technologies
- Authentication, Access, and Authorisation technologies; DNS and DHCP
- Demonstrated high level analytical, conceptual, and problem management skills with a proven record in the assessment and evaluation of technical requirements within a complex information and communication technology environment.
- Demonstrated experience in promoting and ensuring the use of appropriate techniques, within the technology sphere to provide third level support (SFIA Code: ARCH 5; METL 5; DESN 5).
- Proven ability to manage and contribute to the development, publication, implementation and compliance to technical policies, standards, and procedures at an enterprise level. (SFIA Code: CNSL 5: EMRG 5, QUST 4; CORE 3; QUAS 5)
- Demonstrated ability or the ability to quickly learn ServiceNow and ITIL Service Management processes, primarily incident/problem/change/configuration management). (SFIA Code: PBMG 5; CHMG 5; CFMG 5).
