As an HSBC employee in Australia, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes market leading subsidised private health cover, enhanced parental pay/benefits and support when you return to work, wellness days and wellbeing programs as well as a highly flexible workplace culture.
Financial Crime (FC) Investigations focuses on the specific financial crime threats the firm faces now and in the future, pioneering the techniques and technology that protect our business, our customers, and the many communities in which we operate, from the harms associated with financial crime. FC Investigations harnesses research, analytics, technology, investigation, information sharing, and public-private partnership to achieve this end, always seeking the most effective and efficient means.
Taking on the role of Major Investigations Assistant Manager, you will be involved in investigating significant financial crime incidents predominantly in external fraud, taking on less complex matters, giving you the opportunity to learn and develop in this space in a leadership position. In doing so you will be involved with investigative information gathering and mitigation of live risk, regularly interacting with a broad range of teams across the business both in Australia and across borders. Working closely with the Major Investigations Manager, you will be joining the bank's network of major investigations teams globally, providing insight into both sides of the financial crime investigative process.
**Your main responsibilities will include**:
- Investigating all relevant Financial Crime referrals, originating from the business, research and analytics, law enforcement, HR, Anti-Money Laundering Investigations or other relevant channels.
- Writing and submitting clear, concise, factual, unbiased, thorough and timely investigation reports.
- Assisting the Major Investigations Manager in providing guidance and solutions to the Business in a timely and effective manner, taking prompt action to mitigate risks and maximise loss recovery.
- Managing the businesses' expectations in relation to investigation timeframes, escalating problems immediately.
- Making recommendations for process improvement, strengthening of control logs, strategies and certification of operational losses.
- Assisting the Major Investigations Manager with decision making on legal situations in liaison with the legal team.
- Undertaking special projects / financial crime risk assessments and training initiatives.
Requirements
**To be successful in this role, you will need**:
- Experience in end to end financial crime investigation or investigations experience with a genuine interest to transition into and develop experience in financial crime investigations.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to write and prepare investigative reports.
- Excellent analytical skills drawing on your genuine curiosity and strong eye for detail.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and manage strong stakeholder relationships.
- Exceptional time management, autonomously able to organise constantly changing priorities, with a sense of urgency.
- A strategic mindset, enabling you to visualise the consequences and ramifications of actions, beyond the transactional.
- Experience in banking, with an understanding of systems, processes, products and procedures is an advantage, but not essential.
HSBC is committed to building a culture where all employees are valued and respected and where opinions count. We take pride in providing a workplace that fosters continuous professional development, flexible working and opportunities to grow in an inclusive environment.
