**About the role**
Your experience and leadership will guide and inspire the team as they conduct major and complex investigations, inspections and targeted operations to uphold and strengthen compliance with Building Commission's relevant legislation.
The Manager Investigations is part of the Investigations and Enforcement directorate. You will lead a team that investigates breaches and offences principally under the Home Building Act 1989, Australian Consumer Law and Crimes Act 1900.
You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the team and carefully manage investigations. This involves leading a large team of investigators who undertake end-to-end investigations.
**In this role, you will**:
- Provide clear strategic and operational direction and inspiring leadership to foster a culture of teamwork, achievement and accountability.
- Develop and empower our team of talented investigators, ensuring they're ready to take on new challenges and responsibilities while preparing for the future.
- Mentor and support our Investigators to excel in their roles.
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders - other assessment and investigative teams, inspectors, lawyers, management and the executive team.
**To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate**:
- Appropriate qualifications and/or significant industry experience.
- Proven expertise in leading operational staff, providing effective support and mentorship in high-volume, high-pressure environments.
- A track record of skilfully conducting and managing investigations, proficiently gathering evidence, and preparing briefs for prosecution.
- Advanced knowledge of criminal law, rules of evidence, criminal procedures, and administrative law.
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to produce timely, well-crafted reports and effortlessly engage with stakeholders both inside and outside the organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in leading the development and execution of successful compliance programs.
