**The Role**
ALS Metallurgy, a subsidiary in the ALS Group, is seeking a Supervisor for our hydrometallurgical pilot plant facilities based in the northern suburbs of Perth.

This is a permanent fulltime position nominally working 37.5 hours per week, however there is a requirement to be available for occasional shift work working 12 hours shifts during piloting periods for up to 14-continuous days. Shift allowances apply.

**The day to day**
The Hydrometallurgical Pilot Plant Supervisor will be responsible for supervision of Shift Metallurgists, Technicians and Operators through a hands-on participation role with the main aim of safely delivering on multiple hydrometallurgical pilot plant programs across all Hydrometallurgy Centre of Excellence (HCE) piloting facilities.

Duties include:

- Demonstrate a proactive approach to safety and leads by example
- Supervise the construction of pilot plants to a selected flowsheet and pilot design criteria
- Be involved in all aspects of pilot programs including staffing, training, maintenance and operations
- Responsible for all staff working on pilot plant shifts and within the piloting operations area (including visitors, vendors, contractors, temporary, permanent, part-time, casual or daily rotation staff)
- Liaise with the Metallurgist's to ensure metallurgical test work programs are coordinated, scheduled and executed in accordance to client requirements
- Ensure operational procedures are prepared and adhered to during pilot campaigns.
- Supervision of storage, preparation and handling of samples, chemicals and equipment (inclusive of forklift operations)

**The essentials**
- High level of safety awareness, with strong leadership skills and experience in the supervision of operational teams
- Broad technical knowledge of hydrometallurgical processes
- Mechanical aptitude for setting up small laboratory scale pumps, agitators and tanks.
- Proven time management skills and a strong focus on attention to detail
- Ability to provide technical assistance and training to technicians
- Strong planning and organizational skills and the ability to prioritizes and work under pressure and delegate tasks accordingly
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to set realistic and achievable goals
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills to ensure operators work efficiently
