They're a Financial Services SME with proper clients across Australia, a decent track record, and plenty more growth ahead.They need a finance professional to own the numbers.
Not just the back-end stuff, but someone who's happy being front-facing too.
You'll be talking to stakeholders across the business, answering questions, helping them understand the numbers, and making sure decisions are based on something more than gut feel.And because it's an SME, you'll also be wearing a few hats.
Some days that means digging into reconciliations, other days it's fixing a clunky process, or being the person someone calls when a client's account doesn't look right.
It's varied.
It's hands-on.
It's not the kind of job where you hide behind spreadsheets all day.Here's what you'll actually be doing:Running the day-to-day accounts: AP, AR, payroll, reconciliationsClosing off the month properly and producing reports people actually useChecking and coaching customer service associates around accounting mattersKeeping cashflow forecasting sharp so there are no surprisesMaking sure compliance, audits, and tax deadlines don't turn into dramasImproving systems, processes, and controls to make life easier for everyoneBeing the "go-to" when finance questions or client issues pop upWhat they'd like you to bring:At least 5 years of solid accounting experienceXero or similar.
If you know one, you'll pick up anotherThe detail-focus every accountant needs, plus the ability to step back and see the bigger pictureA steady head under pressure and a willingness to get stuck inExperience with improving and automating processesCA/CPA qualification is useful if you are at Accountant level, but experience is most importantLocal to the Bayside/South-east areaWhy it's worth a look:You won't just be another cog.
