**The Role & Responsibilities**
The Safety Officer is responsible for supporting stakeholders in HFM in their efforts to comply with the health and safety laws. You will be responsible for driving activities and engaging multiple stakeholders to ensure HFM has a strong safety culture. This will be across day-to-day operations as well as assisting with safety on new site refurbishments and builds
Implementing the strategic plan which is aligned with the achievement of HFM overall company strategy.
- Supporting the development of OHS policies and programs
- Advising and instructing on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
- Conducting risk assessment and enforcing preventative measures
- Participate and lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and competency assessments
- Ensuring the management team understand their safety responsibilities.
- Maintaining Records of consultation within the retail and logistics areas of operation
- Calendar of training and communication activities in place and implemented.
- Hazards, Near Misses and Incidents reported following procedure.
- Programme of hazard management inspections completed with corrective actions assigned.
- Measure and close out of safety related maintenance issues.
- Update traffic management plans in place across all locations and reviewed annually.
- 100% contractors approved and inducted, site access controlled.
- SafeWork Procedures in place, up to date and all staff trained.
- Incidents reporting records maintained in Folio, are up to date and accurate.
- Hazards/Near misses reports recorded
- Corrective actions documented and closed out.
- Serious incidents escalated immediately upon discovery.
- Regular audits of contractor management
- Schedule of approved consultants / contractors.
- Confirmation of permits to work and regulatory requirements met.
- Regular checks of compliance with HNVL and its associated regulations.
- Monitoring of preventative maintenance program of works in place.
- Reporting of non-compliance
- Evidence of quarterly store audits and reporting on corrective actions.
- Evidence regular of supplier and contractor audits.
- Site risk register.
- Safety and food safety requirements incorporated into design and delivery ensuring adherence with legislation.
- Project specific Safety Management Plans in place.
- Site security controls in place and managed.
- Contractor and sub-contractor controls in place
- Provide input for board reports
- Input into KPI reporting for risk committee meetings and achievement of actions.
- Evidence of continuous improvement activities.
- Can do attitude and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.
- Proven work experience in Safety in a similar environment.
- Deep understanding of health and safety legislation and an ability to educate and coach others to ensure compliance.
- Participate in various projects with an ability juggle competing priorities and manage time effectively.
- Can address workplace-related health issues and accidents
**Experience / Competencies required**
- Can do attitude and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.
- Proven experience as **safety officer **in a similar environment e.g. warehouse, retail, manufacturing.
- Complete a Diploma of Work Health and **Safety** (BSB51315) or Advanced Diploma of Work Health and **Safety** (BSB60615).
