**About this role**
The Breast Care Coordinator (RN Level 2) is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a solid background in Breast Care services and previous leadership experience, or is a great next step for someone with aspirations towards a career in nursing leadership. You will coordinate and deliver a comprehensive Breast Care service for patients undergoing surgery and related treatment for Breast Cancer, assuming responsibility for the nursing plan of care and is accountable for, patient care management decisions specific to assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the plan.

The Breast Care Coordinator leads the breast care team in the use of Breast Care Nursing interventions to enhance self-care and empowerment of the person undergoing breast cancer surgery and potential complications. This includes pre-operative counselling, reviewing post-operative care and education, follow-up assessment and counselling as part of discharge planning.

All our Clinical Nurses perform an important leadership role by promoting a culture of clinical excellence based on person centred care. You will provide clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, whilst assisting the Clinical Manager to effectively coordinate the team to deliver superior outcomes for our patients. Our Clinical Nurses also hold responsibility for a portfolio of work (supported by the CM).

Other key responsibilities include:

- Maintaining professional knowledge of the standards in relation to Breast Care Nursing and contemporary wound care practices and supportive products
- Providing supportive care by identifying the multiple physical, psychological, social, sexual and spiritual needs of the client and their significant support personnel throughout the continuum of breast cancer care.
- Providing comprehensive, specialised and individual information to clients using evidence-based education in the following areas; pathophysiology of the breast, treatments, self-management strategies, and support services/products.
- Improving Breast Care Services through a range of clinical leadership and professional activities
- Monitoring day-to-day nursing practice in line with clinical standards, policies and procedures;
- Assisting the Clinical Manager to monitor and manage the performance of nursing staff within the work area, including mentoring and coaching others, and contributing to their ongoing professional education;
- Liaising with Medical Officers and other medical professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes and care;
- Contributing to initiatives and projects that improve patient care

**Hours**
This position is being offered as permanent full-time (75hrs) on a fixed term basis for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. Part-time arrangements can be negotiated.
