Great opportunity for a Medication Safety Consultant to join our team on a 10 month fixed term contract role.

Purpose of Role:
**Responsibilities**:

- Support the sales process for MMS to achieve/exceed sales budget.
- In alignment with the business strategy, provide product training, clinical procedure training and technical assistance to customers as required, utilising relevant educational and training resources.
- Tailor, plan for and coordinate education programs and consultation services to meet individual customer requirements to support product trials, clinical simulations and implementations. Engage internal and external stakeholders to deliver on plan.
- Provide management with information on activity in the market place including competitive activity, product assessment and industry trends.
- Manage time effectively to ensure all products and services offered are supported in each account in line with priority projects and MMS team directives
- Maintain an accurate up to date CRM database of all accounts including activities, in-servicing records and contact details.
- Attend relevant industry trade shows, conferences and meetings as required.
- Proactively develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and key opinion leaders. Where appropriate develop and maintain relationships with relevant associations and government representatives to raise the BD profile with relevant decision-makers in the healthcare environment.
- Have a sound knowledge of relevant Government legislation, standards and policies. Maintain a strong clinical knowledge relating to Medication Delivery, Infection Control, Healthcare Worker and Patient Safety issues.
- Liaise with Marketing and Sales Management to assist in the development and assessment of product support tools and educational material including instructions for use, points to practice, instructional videos etc.
- Assist the Account Managers with learning new clinical areas and building knowledge where clinical and technical knowledge gaps exist.
- Work in conjunction with the Account Managers and Specialists to ensure there is good information sharing and a team approach to addressing customer and business needs.
- Maintain company property, including computer equipment, in good working condition and also in an image that reflects the professional standards of BD at all times.
- Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Management System as maintained by BD Australia and New Zealand.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum 5 years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse or pharmacist in an acute care facility.
- Thorough and recent knowledge of hospital medication processes and the issues associated with medication safety.
- Experience in the provision of adult education and training
- High level verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong computer skills with experience in the use of databases and ability to interpret and maximise use of clinical data
- Analytical, problem solving skills
- Evidence of effective documentation, planning, prioritisation and organising skills
- Ability to deal with multiple priorities and short time lines. Must be able to work with other members of MMS team to set and manage appropriate customer expectations
- Commercially aware of medication safety initiatives within the health care industry
- Ability to think in a creative and "lateral" manner
- High attention to detail.

Other Working Conditions
- Some weekend and out of normal business hours work may be required at times to meet customer needs and timelines.
- Domestic (and occasional international) travel will be required with frequent need to stay away from home.
- Flexibility in working hours would be advantageous.
- Drivers licence essential.

The role demands an ability to impart technical and clinical information while maintaining presence and vitality within the training and clinical environment.

The person who functions in this role must have tenacity and be highly self-motivated. This person will also demonstrate self-learning and be abreast of current issues in the health care arena.

As part of the Clinical team this person needs to have a good sense of the commercial environment and the desire to be part of a team as well as a flexible approach to satisfying customer needs.
