As a Data Governance Specialist within the Macquarie Capital Data & Analytics team, you will join a growing team supporting a number of regulatory and strategic initiatives, aimed at bringing Macquarie Capital's data under governance.

As the team continues to evolve, we will be looking to welcome both Manager and Analyst level Data Governance specialists who will play a key role in the management of the organisation's data management and critical data, working with to deliver Macquarie capital requirements for enterprise and regulatory projects and ensure those requirements work into Macquarie Capital business projects.

**What impact will you have?**

As a Data Governance Specialist, you will support end to end data management, data best practice adoption and the identification and management of critical data elements. With a strong delivery focus, you will take lead in key regulatory streams of work, building deep understanding in specific business divisions data flows to ensure that documented understanding meets regulatory and audit requirements.

Other key responsibilities will include:

- Working with stakeholder to support the execution of critical data element assessments and mapping
- Enhance and embed processes, instructions and templates to facilitate data management processes
- Oversee operation of the enterprise data quality tools to discover, define, assess and measure data quality rules to improve data quality
- Drive the end to end Data Under Governance process - ensuring that data lineage is traced, business process and controls are understood, control gaps or data management risks are identified, and remediation plans are consulted and agreed
- Contribute to the implementation of data management frameworks and processes
- Manage business glossaries and data dictionaries for existing systems and new initiatives.

**What skills will you use?**

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in a dedicated Data Governance role, ideally in the Financial Services sector. Oustanding stakeholder management and communication skills will be assumed. Other relevant skills and experience may include:

- ability to communicate data concepts and technical information in simple business terms
- experience with data mapping and tracing data lineage
- experience defining data quality rules / business rules / data controls;
- Experience in identifying data risks and mitigating controls
- exposure to database management, data warehousing, or data lake technology
- exposure to business glossary and data dictionaries;
- familiarity with contemporary data quality technology (e.g. Informatica IDQ, Trillium, Information Analyzer) and meta data management technology (e.g. Collibra, EDC, Axon, Alex)
- experience with writing SQL queries and understanding basic database modeling
